Michael Strahan’s Daughter Isabella Says ‘Everything Hurts’ After Chemo: ‘I Feel Like I’m Having a Heart Attack’

“I would prefer radiation now, thinking back on it. And I did not like radiation…,” the 19-year-old said while recovering from chemotherapy after being diagnosed with a brain tumor

Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella Strahan is detailing the painful recovery she’s going through after chemotherapy following her brain tumor diagnosis.

On Friday, the 19-year-old student and model posted the eighth installment of her YouTube series, where she’s been sharing her health journey after having emergency surgery in October to remove a large medulloblastoma — a type of malignant tumor — in her cerebellum.

In the vlog, Isabella is finally back home after undergoing treatment in North Carolina at the Duke University Hospital. She’s sitting on the couch icing her head while sharing how much pain she’s in from the chemo.

“My head hurts, I have ice on my head. I feel like I’m having a heart attack. My heart hurts,” she said. “Everything hurts.”

“My eyes are strained, they hurt to look to the sides,” she continued. “My whole mouth feels like I got one giant root canal of my whole mouth. Every single tooth, just ripped out and not even surgically put back in. My jaw hurts, the bottom of my tongue hurts. It hurts when I gulp water.”

Isabella started chemotherapy earlier this month after completing six weeks of radiation. She admitted that so far, chemo has been a much more difficult experience to manage.

“I would prefer radiation now, thinking back on it. And I did not like radiation so… I would say I prefer brain surgery too but that might be extreme,” she quipped. “I don’t know, this one’s just the longest journey.”

“I think it just stresses me out because so much could go wrong,” she added. “Like oh no, my heart hurts. That could mean I’m having a heart attack. Or my eye is strained, what if my eyes stop working? Or what if my teeth just rot and fall out? I don’t know. Everything you probably could think of possible.”

On the bright side, Isabella explained in her vlog that regardless of the pain she’s excited to be back home and sleeping in her own bed for the first time in a while.

“Personally I don’t mind the hospital too much because I feel safe, but I do like being home,” she said.

While home, Isabella said there’s not much she can do besides stretch, take a walk, drink water and eat some of her favorite foods. She ended the vlog sitting on the couch with her twin sister Sophia as they’re both relaxing and wearing eye massaging masks.

Michael Strahan’s Daughter Isabella, 19, Reveals Brain Tumor Diagnosis: ‘Just Have to Keep Living Every Day’
Earlier this week, Isabella posted another vlog while in the hospital sharing how nervous she was getting her chemotherapy administered for the first time. “I just got my big bag of chemo,” she quipped before sharing that the drugs have been “running for six hours.”

“I’m stressing myself out because I feel like everything could just go wrong with me at any moment,” she said. “I don’t know, I’m just so terrified that my leg is going to start twitching, or what if my organs just shut down?”

Sophia and her father’s girlfriend Kayla Quick quickly cut her off and told her to calm down and think more positively.

Isabella first shared her diagnosis during a segment on Good Morning America alongside her dad. She was diagnosed with the condition in October after she started experiencing headaches — which she initially attributed to vertigo — during her freshman year at the University of Southern California.

She has since been documenting her journey undergoing treatment in her YouTube series, which she started to benefit Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center.

“It’s been like, two months of keeping it quiet, which is definitely difficult. I don’t wanna hide it anymore ’cause it’s hard to always keep in,” Isabella said on GMA. “I hope to just kind of be a voice, and be [someone] who maybe [those who] are going through chemotherapy or radiation can look at.”
